Celtic stuttered in Dundee as Adam Idah failed to score again for the Hoops.

The Republic of Ireland striker is now goalless in ten games as Celtic stuttered to a 3-3 draw in Dundee after allowing the Dens Park club to peg them back twice and take the lead late into the second half.

Brendan Rodgers made three changes to his Celtic starting XI and gave a start to Luke McCowan, Greg Taylor, and Paulo Bernardo as injuries and a hectic fixture schedule forced the Hoops boss to manage his squad with the games coming thick and fast.

Goals from McCowan, Hyunjun Yang and a late, late penalty from Arne Engels rescued a point from the jaws of victory and the Celtic manager was unhappy at his team’s standards in the six-goal draw.

Brendan Rodgers rues Celtic’s slackness in Dundee draw

Rodgers told BBC Radio Scotland, “I think that we had a lot of control of the game in the first 40 minutes. We then give away a needless goal from a counter-attack just right on half-time.

“We’re under no threat first half, we’re in control of the game and then we concede so that gives them a little bit of impetus going into the second half.

“We then get in front 2-1 and we should then go on and go through the gears from there. But we then give away two really disappointing goals that we should deal with.

“And of course, then you’re fighting right to the end to get something from the game. I give credit to the players. They kept going, but for our level and for our standard, that second half would need to be better.”

Rodgers was then asked about Adam Idah heading straight up the tunnel after being subbed off as BBC reporter, Tyrone Smith, suggested that the Celtic boss gave the Irishman a ‘glower’ and asked if there was anything in that.

Rodgers abruptly replied, “He came back, didn’t he? Or did you miss that?” When the reporter informed the Hoops boss he had, the Parkhead gaffer continued, “All right, okay, of course you would.

“You would miss that. But yeah, he walked to get to get something warmer, because he’s come off and then he obviously came back to the to the dugout.”

The bigger picture is that Celtic still extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table as the Parkhead club sits 16 points ahead of Rangers who play tomorrow night.

Brendan Rodgers will have a few decisions to mull over for Kilmarnock’s visit to Celtic Park in the Scottish Cup as there are players who are not producing to the standard the Northern Irishman expects for Celtic right now.
