Brendan Rodgers makes unyielding vow to Celtic supporters after meek Hearts performance

Celtic’s performance against Hearts was one that fans will want to forget as Brendan Rodgers tells the support how he plans to halt the slump.

Celtic have not been firing on all cylinders this season and after the Bhoys’ defeats to Hearts and Dundee, the chickens have come home to roost for the Parkhead club.

Chris Sutton nailed Celtic’s poor recruitment as the one big reason as to why his old club’s stuttering start to the season is yet to improve.

But with the January transfer window months away, what will Rodgers do to ensure that the gap between Celtic and Hearts doesn’t increase, never mind closes?

Brendan Rodgers vows to work ‘day and night’ to halt Celtic slump

The Celtic boss has now watched his side drop ten points from the first ten games of the season as Rodgers faces a real chase for the top of the Scottish Premiership table for the first time in three seasons.

With fans wondering how and when this slump will end, Rodgers makes a promise to the Celtic supporters on what he is doing behind the scenes to do just that.

Rodgers told BBC Radio Scotland, “Well, again, I am working day and night to maximise the extent to which we can play the game.

“So that’s always something that you look at. We got it after Dundee, we get the performance, and it’ll be the same after this one here.

“So my motivation has ever been higher to get this team playing to a level that we want to and I’ll continue with that.”

Rodgers promises to win with Celtic ‘DNA’

Celtic fans love nothing more than winning with fast, attractive and attacking football, and right now, they are getting none of that.

And with the games coming thick and fast, Rodgers gives his word that this is what he will bring back to Celtic this season.

Rodgers continued, “The approach, I think, when you’re when you’re at a club at Celtic, people talk about plan A, plan B.

“Celtic is a club whose DNA is playing football, and we’ll never lose that, when we play to that identity.

“Hearts, you can see it’s totally different. It’s a different DNA here. The ball’s direct, the supporters love that. It’s a second ball fight, set pieces, all that.

“Celtic hasn’t become winners in that way. Our DNA is to play a fast, attacking game of football. Whatever the system is, the systems are relevant.

“You can play whatever system you want, but your style of football and the style of Celtic is fast attacking football.

“And at the moment, we’re too inconsistent with that, but we certainly need to show more determination on and off the ball in order to deliver more consistent results.”

Plenty of promises but Celtic fans will be hoping that the inconsistent start to this season ends soon because in seven days, Falkirk in the league awaits as does a Hampden meeting with Rangers in the Premier Sports Cup.
