Celtic already have a number of players out injured and the fans couldn’t be blamed for fearing the worst when Hyunjun Yang was hastily taken off in the win against Falkirk.
Yang has been excellent this season and can be widely regarded as the only Celtic player who has flourished during all the managerial turmoil.
The South Korean has been a mainstay in the Celtic starting XI through two spells under Martin O’Neill, and the Hoops boss is clearly a big fan of Yang.
How good has Yang been this past month?
But in Celtic’s win over Falkirk, Yang was taken off just three minutes into the second half, sparking fears another injury could be heading O’Neill’s way.

Martin O’Neill says Celtic winger Hyunjun Yang ‘wasn’t feeling well’
Yang was mysteriously taken off minutes into the second half at Celtic Park in a move that may well leave fans inside the stadium baffled.
But the Celtic boss cleared up the hasty substitution as he revealed Yang wasn’t feeling his best.
O’Neill told Celtic TV, “I’m hoping he is. He was really tired.
“I must admit, but I didn’t realise until I heard just after the break, I had a side message to say he wasn’t really feeling well at the end of the first half.
“Thankfully, it’s not muscles or anything like that there. It was just lack of energy. So we might have made the substitution at half-time if I had known.
“But anyway, it doesn’t matter. Hopefully he’ll be alright, rest him up and be ready to go again, I hope.”
Hyunjun Yang’s impressive Celtic stats this season
Who would have thought Yang would have become one of Celtic’s most important players this season after flattering to deceive for the last two years?
The South Korean winger was much maligned by the Celtic support, but it’s only fair to give credit where it is due.
Yang has consistently been one of Celtic’s best players and his Scottish Premiership stats on Fotmob back it up.
- Rating: 7.12
- Games: 18
- Starts: 15
- Goals: 4
- Assists: 0
- xG: 4.78
- Successful dribbles: 40.60%
Hopefully, Yang will be ready for Celtic’s next fixture against Aberdeen as the 23-year-old continues to prove his critics wrong.
