Celtic fans make worrying claim about Nicolas Kuhn during Scottish Cup win over Hibernian

Celtic made hard work of it, but the Treble is still on for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

On Sunday, Celtic beat Hibernian 2-0 to book their Scottish Cup semi-final ticket, thanks to goals from the man of the season, Daizen Maeda and substitute, Adam Idah.

The champions are flying high in the league and are 16 points clear at the top of the Premiership table, so more focus can now be put on the Scottish Cup, especially if you add in the fact that the team is out of Europe.

This game against David Gray’s side was tricky because Hibernian had beaten Celtic at Easter Road last month and were also 15 games unbeaten.

It was a typical lively opening from Celtic, including from Nicolas Kuhn and Jota out wide, with the German involved in the opening goal.

Maeda was the man to quickly react to Kuhn’s strike and the Hoops were away, but it took until the final few minutes and a neat finish from Idah for the passage into the semi-final to be booked.

But, as the game progressed after Maeda’s goal, Kuhn’s performance became a talking point.

Celtic fans concerned about Nicolas Kuhn during Scottish Cup win against Hibernian

Before the festive period, you would have thought that Kuhn was running away with the Player of the Year award because he was the best performer in Scotland.

But Maeda has now taken that away from him and there is nothing wrong with that because he has been unstoppable.

However, fans on social media are concerned and worried about Kuhn’s performances since the turn of the year and how he seems to have lost that spark.

@CM_11 on Kuhn in 2025: ‘Nicolas Kuhn well off the boil in 2025. Manufactures lots of good attacking positions but fails to convert into anything. Jeffrey Schlupp playing very well again. Need a second badly as Hibs looking more menacing’.

@DThuaidh thinks Kuhn needs that goal: ‘Kuhn needs goal badly’.

@seery_o asks a question: ‘Kuhn’s not been the same since the break. I wonder what’s up? 🍀’

Honesty from @Brady_1888_: ‘Kuhn’s form has dropped a bit ngl’.

@Johans54806418 added: ‘Kuhn off Yang on now, please. One of those days for Kuhn’.

@DJM1888 is concerned: ‘Whits going on with Kuhn?’.

Kuhn’s stats for Celtic in 2025

Could this be a case of Maeda being so good that it’s making Kuhn’s performance look and feel that little weaker?!

The 25-year-old has still scored some important goals during these last few months and this is how he has fared in 2025 alone.

Overall, Kuhn has 18 goals and 13 assists to his name, so that means 14 goals and 11 assists from 23 matches prior.

There is still a long way to go until the season ends, and for him to keep up that type of form throughout, is a big ask.
