Celtic fans have named their man of the match after they secured an important 2-1 win against Dundee to keep their title hopes alive.

Kelechi Iheanacho came off the bench to score the winner and continue Celtic’s trend of scoring late goals in games and keep the pressure on Hearts and Rangers.

Supporters still weren’t convinced by what they saw at Dens Park; however, 67 Hail Hail fans voted for their man of the match on TalkingPoints, handing the award to a surprise contender.

Daizen Maeda edges it out in man of the match award

After allowing our fans to vote on the TalkingPoints platform, the supporters had decided that Daizen Maeda just about edged it in the vote.

Maeda looked back to his best on Sunday afternoon, making runs in behind the Dundee backline and giving defender Bradley Haliday a torrid time.

Although he didn’t get on the scoresheet, it was a sign that the winger can still offer a lot more going into the end-of-season run-in.

Should Daizen Maeda start up front?

Tomas Cvancara’s performance left a lot to be desired and backed up the comparison Chris Sutton made in which he said choosing a striker to start for Celtic is like picking out of a tombola hat.

Iheanacho delivered off the bench but fitness and inconsistency have disrupted his chances of nailing down a starting spot.

When Maeda plays like that, he is capable of causing problems all over the pitch and putting him down the middle may offer more opportunity to pressurise the backline and force them into mistakes.
