There were many low points Celtic had to deal with this season.
But a rocky, dramatic and chaotic 2025/26 campaign ended with Celtic securing the domestic double, with Martin O’Neill’s side beating Dunfermline Athletic in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday afternoon.
Chris Sutton hailed O’Neill as a ‘miracle worker’ for the job he has done over his two spells at Parkhead this season, given how everything and anything was being turned upside down.
From the brutal end of Brendan Rodgers in October to Wilfried Nancy’s nightmare 33-day spell, Sutton thinks there is ‘so much to admire’ that two trophies have been lifted.

“How this Celtic team have won a double, I don’t know, but they found a way to win, and there is so much to admire about that.”

Chris Sutton hints at who he wants as Celtic’s next boss after Scottish Cup final win
Nobody yet knows who will be Celtic’s manager next season, but it certainly won’t be Jens Berthel Askou after he joined Toulouse in Ligue 1 after 12 months at Motherwell.
Given what O’Neill has done, many are calling for the legendary Irishman to return next season.
When Sutton reacted to Celtic’s Scottish Cup final win on social media, he hinted that it should be O’Neill by stating that he is ‘the best motivator out there.’
“Martin the miracle worker 👏👏👏🍀,” wrote Sutton.
“How this Celtic team have won a double I don’t know, but they found a way to win, and there is so much to admire about that.
“And with Martin, Celtic have had the best motivator out there. I’m delighted for him. What a man. A true great 👏👏👏🍀.”
