Chris Sutton has pulled no punches with his criticism of Celtic in recent weeks, so it says a lot for the Bhoys’ performance away to Dundee that he was impressed.
Brendan Rodgers’ side drew the ire of the former Bhoys striker after recent defeats to Kilmarnock and Hearts, declaring that Celtic had been bang average for the majority of the season.
He also suggested the manager was “going through the motions” at Celtic since his return, prompting a firm response from Rodgers in the build-up to the weekend win over Livingston.
Celtic land another three points in Dundee
Celtic turned up with real intent in the Dens Park victory, though went into the interval frustrated after several missed opportunities.
Thankfully, Paulo Bernardo and Mikey Johnston found their way to goal to provide a comfortable 3-0 win, in the end.
Sutton was left encouraged by the display, stating on social media: “A performance of real authority from Celtic. Totally dominant but should have been more ruthless. Good for Mikey Johnston to get his goals. Huge blow Carter-Vickers hobbling off.”
After losing to Hearts, Bhoys fans were left in no doubt that the team couldn’t afford to drop more points heading into the derby against Rangers.

That part of the festive mission is now complete and now attention turns to the Ibrox side. That’s by far the biggest challenge facing Celtic before the winter break with Philippe Clement’s team picking up consistent results since his arrival.
Avoiding defeat at the weekend would be decent but a win is what every Celtic fan craves. If Rodgers’ men manage to do that, much of the recent criticism will be washed away for the second half of the season.
