As expected, Brendan Rodgers made several changes to his Celtic XI for the visit of Kilmarnock on Saturday afternoon.
After Celtic’s loss to St Johnstone, the man in the dugout made four changes to his XI, including bringing in a few old heads.
Greg Taylor returned to left-back, with Jeffrey Schlupp getting benched, as James Forrest also made his first start in 2025, as well as Liam Scales and Adam Idah starting.
It worked a treat because Celtic conjured up a dominant 5-1 win over struggling Killie and put the woeful performance of Perth behind them.
This was supposed to be Celtic’s title party, but too many defeats in 2025 has meant that the champions-elect will have to wait a little longer to celebrate yet.

Nonetheless, Chris Sutton was on commentary duty for the match, and he wanted to give Taylor and Forrest their flowers.

Chris Sutton lauds Greg Taylor and James Forrest after Celtic’s win over Forrest
It is well-documented that Taylor is expected to leave Celtic in the summer, but Sutton thought he was ‘Man of the Match’ against his former side.
Playing in his usual left-back role, where he would come in and invert, the 27-year-old produced an outstanding display during his hour on the field of play.
As for Forrest, he too was lauded by Sutton on social media, as every Celtic fan will agree with the fact that he has been a great servant to the club.
“Some response from Celtic,” wrote Sutton.
“Title nearly there. Greg Taylor man of the match what a difference he made and old timer James Forrest was excellent. What a servant to the club he has been. That was the standard once again in the first half.”
Taylor’s stats for Celtic against Kilmarnock
Everyone now knows that Kieran Tierney will return to Celtic in the summer, so that puts Taylor on the back foot, in terms of starts.
There hasn’t been anything official yet, but the noises suggest that Taylor will depart, and him losing his place in recent months to Schlupp, has only added fuel to that fire.
But if that is the case, then the Scotland international is doing his best to showcase his best performances, as WhoScored rated his performance against Killie at just under seven.
