Celtic showcased their attacking might by thrashing Aberdeen 6-0 in the Scottish League Cup semi-final on Saturday at Hampden.
A lot was made of this game, not just because a Scottish League Cup Final ticket was up for grabs, but because Celtic and Aberdeen are the top two clubs in Scotland.
The last time they met, Aberdeen came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Parkhead, but it was a completely different story this time around.
There is a reason why Celtic are champions and Brendan Rodgers showed that because they didn’t even let their opponents breathe at the home of Scottish football.
Yes, many still expected a Celtic win, even after Aberdeen beat Rangers in midweek, but not many expected it to be so ruthless and commanding.
Daizen Maeda walked away with the match ball because he netted a brilliant hat-trick, with Cameron Carter-Vickers, Kyogo Furuhashi and Nicolas Kuhn the other goalscorers.
As the goals were going on, Chris Sutton had one question to ask.
Chris Sutton defends Aberdeen conceding six to Celtic
Only Aberdeen have been able to keep up to pace with Celtic this term and you have to question how long that will now last.
Sutton doesn’t think the Dons’ bubble has burst despite being on the end of a tonking, as he told 606 on BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
You know that Celtic will go from strength to strength from here and nothing will stop them, so Aberdeen’s reaction to this defeat will be interesting.

“I want to hear from Celtic fans. 6-0, Aberdeen (are) Celtic’s biggest challengers,” said Sutton. “I know it was the cup. I want to hear from Aberdeen fans. I don’t think it is. I think they have had a brilliant start to the season under Jimmy Thelin.
“Do you think the wheels are off at Aberdeen after that demolishing at Hampden?”
Celtic and Aberdeen’s upcoming fixtures
Aberdeen have benefited from not playing in Europe and the time they play for the third time in a week, they are well and truly outclassed.
Celtic have Champions League matters to deal with on Tuesday – a home clash against German outfit, RB Leipzig after that draw against Atalanta last time out.
Whilst Aberdeen will lick their wounds and prepare for their next Scottish Premiership encounter against Dundee.
Here are the upcoming league games facing Celtic and Aberdeen, with the real pressure and questions now set to be asked of Jimmy Thelin’s side.
