A Dutch commentator who didn’t have much to say about Celtic in the build-up to their win against Feyenoord was left with egg on his face.
Celtic beat Feyenoord 3-1 at De Kuip in one of their most impressive European performances in recent memory.
Goals from Hyunjun Yang, Reo Hatate and Benjamin Nygren ended the Hoops’ 24-year wait for a win in the Netherlands.
Robin van Persie remained classy despite defeat, but one commentator may regret his choice of words.

Sum up that win in one word…
Jeroen Grueter claimed Celtic were not up to standard
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but in Jeroen Grueter’s case, he perhaps should’ve read the room.
Both sides were looking weak heading into the game; however, Grueter played down Celtic’s chances by claiming that the Hoops were “playing worse than I’ve seen them play in the last 15 years”.
The comment beforehand didn’t make sense, as Martin O’Neill’s side won their game against St Mirren, while Feyenoord were beaten in the build-up.
Maybe next time he will learn to wait before making such a claim.
Celtic’s Europa League fate is in their hands
A defeat in Rotterdam would’ve left the Bhoys with a real mountain to climb, but those three points have changed the game.
Other results around the continent mean that Celtic are now 21st in the table. If the league phase were to end at that point, the Hoops would qualify for a Europa League play-off spot.
The Europa League table after tonight’s results. Will we qualify?
Things can change and the Bhoys still need to fight off the chasing pack, as well as contend with three difficult games to end the first part of the campaign.
Roma, Bologna and Utrecht all await. Can they do it?
