It was disappointing to see Alex Valle leave Celtic early.
Yes, everyone would have accepted Kieran Tierney returning during the January transfer window in exchange for Valle going back, but that didn’t happen.
In truth, when Celtic cut short the 20-year-old’s loan spell and he returned to Barcelona, many expected Tierney to come through the doors, but instead, fans will have to wait until the summer.
There is no problem in that, but the powers that be then left Brendan Rodgers in a difficult situation and that’s without a bonafide left-back to push Greg Taylor during the final months of the campaign.
It resulted in Celtic signing Jeffrey Schlupp on transfer deadline day – a versatile player – which is rather annoying because the club would have been better off keeping Valle and watching a special talent transform into a top player.
But now, FC Como have signed Valle on a loan deal and he has already played two games for Cesc Fabregas’ transforming side.
Mixed fortunes for Alex Valle after he leaves Celtic
On the one hand, Valle is now earning starts, that’s back-to-back games he has started within the space of a week, including during Como’s narrow 2-1 defeat to Juventus on Friday night.
The Spanish youngster got the Kyogo Furuhashi treatment and that’s being hooked without being able to finish the match.
That has happened in both of Valle’s matches, although, unlike Kyogo, who wasn’t even used in Rennes’ second game, he is still getting on the pitch and showing what he is all about.

How Valle rated against Juventus as ambitious Como push for success
A lot of money has been splashed at Conmo and, after promotion to the top tier this season, they are serious about challenging the big boys in Serie A.
They are hovering two points above the drop zone and were cruelly beaten by Juventus on Friday night, as new Juve signing Kolo Muani netted an 89th-minute winner from the penalty spot.
Valle was rated 6.41 for his performance by WhoScored and played 73 minutes, as Celtic fans wish him the best and will be eager to see what type of player he becomes.
