The Green Brigade have revealed that they were present for Celtic’s win against Kilmarnock on Sunday.
Celtic fans were confused after the Green Brigade banners were spotted at Parkhead during the 4-0 win against Stuart Kettlewell’s side.
Following a statement from the club’s hierarchy, the Green Brigade were hit with a six-game ban in relation to an incident that took place after the game against Falkirk on Wednesday 29 October.
Plenty of other groups came out in support, including Bhoys Celtic, who criticised the club for the ban.
However, after the section was clearly full and the usual active support was there, the Ultras group broke their silence.
The Green Brigade confirm they were at Celtic vs Kilmarnock
A statement from the group was published late on Sunday night after the dust had settled.
Within their response, they revealed that a number of supporters had given up their tickets to allow the group to come into the ground.
It said: “Thank you to all of the Celtic Supporters Clubs, groups and individual fans who kindly gave the Green Brigade tickets for today’s match.
“This is another demonstration of unity from the Celtic support, rallying around fans who have been mistreated by a Celtic board clearly feeling the pressure and desperately trying to quell dissent.
“We appreciate that some fans stayed away from today’s match in light of the decision to ban the Green Brigade. We encourage all fans to attend matches as normal while our ban continues, to keep supporting the team and to keep up the pressure on the Celtic board.”
When will the Green Brigade officially be allowed to return?
Technically speaking, the first of the six games the Green Brigade were banned from included the Kilmarnock game, meaning there are five left.
They will miss the Europa League trip to Feyenoord and the top-of-the-table clash against Hearts on 7 December.
This means that they will be allowed to return for the game against Roma on 11 December before heading to Hampden Park three days later for the Premier Sports Cup final against St Mirren.
