This season has been a brilliant one for Celtic scoring dramatic late winners as the title race with Rangers and Hearts heats up.
Celtic have scored late injury time goals against Kilmarnock [twice], Livingston, St Mirren and Motherwell to keep their defence of the Scottish Premiership alive.
However, as Celtic fans celebrate the late goals, our rivals have started a strange injury time conspiracy that the media and pundits appear to have jumped on this season.
Ally McCoist’s tears over Celtic’s penalty are brilliant.
What is he talking about??
But now, IFAB is stepping in and are about to kill the very tactics our rivals use against Celtic to ensure the ‘added-on time’ moaners are finally silenced.

IFAB to introduce three time added-on rule changes that will annoy Celtic’s rivals
IFAB held their 140th AGM at the end of February and the meeting notes were published on FIFA’s website with four rule changes that are being introduced for this summer’s World Cup.
- If the referee believes a throw-in or goal kick is taking too long or is being deliberately delayed, a five-second visual countdown will begin. If the throw is not taken in time, the decision goes the other way. If the goal kick is not taken in time, a corner is given.
- Substituted players must leave the field of play within 10 seconds of the substitution board being displayed. Should the player fail to leave within this time, they must still exit the field – but the substitute will not be permitted to enter until the first stoppage after one minute of play.
- Players who are treated for injury or whose injury stops play now have to leave the field for one minute after the restart. This rule is currently being trialled at 30 seconds.
All of these rule changes will be welcomed by Celtic fans who watch their opponents deploy tactics to delay the game and waste time, but then moan when the Hoops capitalise on that time to score late winners.
This will stop teams like Kilmarnock and Livingston from disrupting the flow of Celtic’s rhythm and, in effect, make the game far more enjoyable for all supporters in Scotland.
The VAR rule change Celtic fans will welcome
VAR is set for a big change too as FIFA look to expand the scope of where the video referee can intervene and point out clear and obvious errors.
- VAR can now check controversial second yellow cards leading to a red card, mistaken identity if the wrong player is booked, and an incorrectly awarded corner kick – if the check can be completed quickly.
This rule change will make the application red card dismissals a lot fairer and stop opponents from getting an unfair advantage when they finally stop time wasting to attack Celtic’s goal.
