James Forrest unavailable for Celtic vs Ross County
James Forrest is not available for tomorrow’s Celtic vs Ross County in the Scottish Premiership, Ange Postecoglou has told a press conference today.
Forrest produced an excellent display away to Livingston recently and earned himself another start against Dundee United in the Scottish Cup.
However, he’s picked up a knock from that Monday night clash and will miss tomorrow’s game, although the injury isn’t serious.
Fan media group The Cynic reported the news direct from the press conference today, which they attended.
The good news is that Jota and Liel Abada are again available, as the manager expected when giving comments to BBC Radio Scotland at Tannadice.
That means the starting eleven shouldn’t be too impact, with Daizen Maeda also available to play on the wing if need be. Karamoko Dembele and Mikey Johnston also in and around the squad right now.
It’s a setback for Forrest though, who looked like he may have turned a corner with his consistent injury problems at the club over the last couple of years.
Hopefully, as predicted, he recovers over the international break. Despite a decline from his peak output, he has plenty to offer this squad over the next two months as the pressure increases in the title race.
Forrest has his critics but on his day he can still get at Scottish Premiership defences. Postecoglou is also a fan and will want him back in action as quickly as possible.
