Hyunjun Yang scored a fantastic equalising goal for Celtic against Rangers, though, as is often the case in this fixture, the opposition did everything they could to try and get it ruled out.
Following Luke McCowan’s brilliant reverse pass to Arne Engels, he cut the ball across the six-yard box for Yang to level the scores after Mikey Moorey’s opener.
Just like there were cries for Alistair Johnston to be sent off before the end of the first half, the Rangers players also wanted to chalk off Yang’s goal, as they felt that Benjamin Nygren was seemingly impeding Jack Butland’s vision in an offside position.
But James McFadden saw sense and shut down those controversial calls, and thinks it was the correct call for Yang’s goal to stand for Celtic.
“There is no way that could be ruled out,” said McFadden. “I know that Nygren is in front of him. He sees it the whole way. You see him, nothing deviates with Jack Butland, and he is never getting there.”

Hyunjun Yang’s goal correct to stand as Celtic beat Rangers
The on-field referee was Nick Walsh. He had no issue with what had occurred as Yang hit the back of the net, but VAR did check the goal before it was confirmed.
Speaking on Sky Sports Football, McFadden lauded the build-up to the goal, including McCowan’s ‘exquisite’ pass.
It was a mixed half for McCowan, who would be subbed off, but he played his part in Celtic’s comeback win over Rangers.
But as McFadden rightfully explained, Butland, just like for Daizen Maeda’s crazy overhead kick, had no chance to save Yang’s strike.
“The pass from Luke McCowan is exquisite,” said McFadden. “It’s a brilliant goal. This is checked here. There is no way that could be ruled out.
“I know that Nygren is in front of him. He sees it the whole way. You see him, nothing deviates with Jack Butland, and he is never getting there. The goal was good, and it definitely should have stood.”
