Celtic’s performance against SC Braga was disjointed and embarrassing.
The lack of forward thinking and penetration from a Celtic side that looked bereft of ideas was quite something as Brendan Rodgers’ side failed to score at home in Europe for the second time this season.
Whilst Celtic controlled much of the start of the first 45 minutes to SC Braga, the Portuguese side stunned the Parkhead crowd after taking the lead in the 20th minute.
And it was what Kelechi Iheanacho did minutes after that goal that caught BBC touchside reporter Kheredine Idessane’s eye at Celtic Park last night.

BBC touchline reporter spots Iheanacho’s confused look at Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers
As the Celtic Park crowd were stunned into silence after Ricardo Horta’s bullet goal for SC Braga, Idessane shares what he spotted Iheanacho doing towards Brendan Rodgers which shows just how disjointed the Bhoys were.
Idessane said on the BBC, “A couple of minutes ago, Kelechi Iheanacho looked across to manager Brendan Rodgers as if to say: ‘What’s going on?’.
“Right-back Colby Donovan had just scooped an aimless pass in his direction that he had no chance of getting control of.
“Celtic, all of a sudden, look a little lost, with Braga completely in control of this match with half an hour played.
“There’s far too much space in the home midfield, with Callum McGregor, Paulo Bernardo and Benjamin Nygren an unconvincing-looking trio thus far.”
Celtic’s first-half stats vs SC Braga back up Iheanacho’s confusion
Celtic, at home, are usually dominant, aggressive and on the front foot. However, in the first 45 minutes against SC Braga, Rodgers’ side were far from that.
Here are the Sofascore stats from the Europa League first-half at Celtic Park:
- Possession: Celtic 48% – Braga 52%
- xG: Celtic 0.08 – Braga 0.33
- Total shots: Celtic 3 – Braga 7
- Big chances: Celtic 0 – Braga 0
- Shots on target: Celtic 1 – Braga 3
- Clearances: Celtic 18 – Braga 10
Lack of attacking intent and allowing Braga to control the game meant Celtic struggled to impose themselves like they normally do on big European nights.
So it’s little wonder Iheanacho cut a confused figure on the Celtic Park pitch.
