Celtic’s summer transfer business has taken some serious hits this season.
But when certain things start to flow, produce strong performances and showcase real promise, then it needs to be and should be praised.
That’s the case with versatile attacker Benjamin Nygren, who, on Saturday afternoon, helped Celtic secure a 4-2 win over Livingston.
Just like for Wilfried Nancy’s first win as Celtic boss against Aberdeen, the man signed from FC Nordsjælland in the summer was on the scoresheet again, and he got his flowers from an unlikely source.

Kris Boyd lauds Benjamin Nygren after Celtic beat Livingston
Kris Boyd was in West Lothian to watch the chaos unfold during Celtic’s goalfest against bottom-of-the-table Livingston.
Speaking on Sky Sports Football (27/12/25), Boyd stated that Nygren has an ‘art’ of ‘arriving late in the box’ to score goals.
That’s now ten goals in all competitions for Nygren since putting on the green and white colours, as Boyd thinks he is ‘very difficult’ to defend against.
“His timing is very good,” said Boyd. “His timing into the box. It’s an art. A lot of people are in there waiting for things to happen, but he is always on the move as well.
“It’s very difficult to defend that. When someone is arriving late in the box. Then it’s a little movement, one or two yards. He seems to always find space, Benjamin Nygren.”

Nygren a regular starter under Wilfried Nancy?
It was a horrid start for Nancy, losing his first four league matches, and everything, from his tactics to his starting XI, looked all over the shop.
But you could argue that the Frenchman now has a player in Nygren, who could and should become a regular in his starting XI during these coming months.
Nygren minutes under Nancy:
- Vs Hearts – 65 minutes
- Vs AS Roma – 45 minutes
- Vs St Mirren – Remained on the bench
- Vs Dundee United – 4 minutes
- Vs Aberdeen – 90 minutes
- Vs Livingston – 71 minutes
