Martin O’Neill should give Celtic star some much-needed minutes against Livingston

Celtic face Livingston in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday night.

Livingston are winless in 24 games and this will be seen as a game that the Hoops should dominate.

Martin O’Neill’s side could move three points behind Hearts if results go their way, but there may have to be changes to the starting XI in order to preserve some minutes.

Junior Adamu may start after his debut goal but there is one player returning from injury that could do with some more minutes in the tank.

Would you take Marcelo Saracchi at Celtic permanently?

Marcelo Saracchi should start for Celtic against Livingston

Kieran Tierney has been brilliant for Celtic but there are doubts over his availability after he took a knock to the head in the victory against Dundee.

He was taken off and replaced by Marcelo Saracchi for his first appearance since O’Neill’s last spell at the club due to injury.

Saracchi has had a productive loan spell and looked really capable of challenging Tierney for that left-back slot.

If there is even the slightest doubt around the Scotland international’s fitness, he should be given a rest to allow his Uruguayan counterpart to come into the fold and get some game time.

Both players will be needed for the season-defining run of fixtures and could be the difference between winning silverware.

Celtic’s predicted XI vs Livingston

There will be a few changes to the side after O’Neill did give some first-team players a break.

Kasper Schmeichel had trouble with his shoulder again but should return in place of Viljami Sinisalo.

Julian Araujo, Auston Trusty and Liam Scales will all continue in defence and should be joined by Saracchi.

Callum McGregor is the anchor in the midfield, alongside Arne Engels and Benjamin Nygren, meaning that new signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will have to settle for a place on the bench.

The big decisions are in the attacking department but one person who will be there is Daizen Maeda on the left wing.

On this occasion, Adamu will be given the start ahead of Tomas Cvancara to see what he can do from the off and to round things off, Hyunjun Yang returns to the XI and Joel Mvuka drops to the bench.
