Brendan Rodgers’ first spell at Celtic was memorable, trophy-laden and devastating.
One of the players who played a key part in that dominant Celtic side was Scott Sinclair, after he moved to Glasgow from Aston Villa in 2016.
The high-flying winger left Celtic in 2020, before retiring last summer at Bristol Rovers, and he was watching the Glasgow derby on Sunday from afar.
Posting on his Instagram story, Sinclair stated, ‘I miss these games’, as he posted an image of himself watching Celtic’s memorable win over Rangers.

Scott Sinclair watches Celtic’s win over Rangers from home
While this current campaign has been largely frustrating for Celtic, the Parkhead faithful have certainly never been starved of unforgettable, derby-day magic over the years.
Perhaps one of the most enjoyable was Sinclair’s first taste of this game when Celtic slapped Rangers 5-1 on home soil, with the Englishman helping himself to a goal and an assist.
Could anything top the sheer drama that unfolded over the weekend? Never before in the history of Scottish football have three teams been locked in a genuine title race this deep into a campaign.
That’s likely why Sinclair was watching the likes of Daizen Maeda work their magic, openly admitting just how much he misses the thrill of it all.

Sinclair’s career numbers at Celtic
Sinclair was a brilliant winger for Celtic, and he played during a period where those in green and white have never dominated before.
Treble after Treble, Celtic fans would do anything to go back to those dominant days, but don’t forget that the domestic double is still on under Martin O’Neill.
Nonetheless, this was Sinclair’s record during his days with Celtic:
- Games: 167
- Goals: 62
- Assists: 33
- Trophies: 11
