Celtic annihilated Dundee 6-0 to go 13 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers named his starting XI and the inclusion of Jota really surprised the Celtic supporters.

Celtic were relentless as they hammered Dundee and Tony Docherty must have been delighted when he heard the final whistle blow inside Celtic Park.

Speaking after the game, Rodgers was left breathless as he hailed his Celtic team for their devastating performance against Dundee.

Brendan Rodgers hails ‘absolutely brilliant’ Celtic vs Dundee

Rodgers told Celtic TV, “I’ve got to say the players were absolutely brilliant. Obviously, Tony’s teams always work so hard and make it really difficult for you.

“We’ve played the system really well this evening and obviously our goals were absolutely brilliant. So, so pleased having played Sunday and then to Wednesday, the recovery, but the attitude and the hunger of the team was impressive.”

Brendan Rodgers reveals his Celtic highlight goal vs Dundee

The Celtic boss was blown away by the quality of the goals as he picked out Daizen Maeda’s ‘sublime’ finishing as his highlight of the night.

Rodgers continued, “That goal [Maeda’s chip], we were under pressure down in the bottom corner, we stayed calm our passes connected the game, Arne’s pass was brilliant and it was a special finish. Like I said, his best side is his left side.

“But tonight you can see his movement off the ball and his finish was sublime it was such a fantastic finish and his other goal before that with his run at the back post and it was a great ball by Jota. Nicolas scored an outstanding goal as well, a nice combination, and I think in fairness to Trevor in their goal, there wasn’t a lot he could do.”

For Rodgers, Celtic face Raith Rovers next in the Scottish Cup where the Northern Irishman will be looking to progress onto the next stage of another domestic treble.

After that, the Bhoys face Bayern Munich in the Champions League. If Celtic puts on another showing against Barry Robson’s Raith on Saturday like they did tonight, Vincent Kompany will know that coming to Celtic Park will not be easy for the Bundesliga club.
