Almost every single Celtic player got pass marks in the win against Aberdeen.

Brendan Rodgers picked a Celtic second string for the Pittodrie clash but Aberdeen still couldn’t handle the power the Bhoys team had.

Celtic battered Aberdeen 5-1 and laid down a marker for the upcoming Scottish Cup final in ten days’ time.

But there was one player whose performance at Pittodrie deserves a Hampden start but he will probably need to settle for a place on the Celtic bench for the end of season showpiece occasion.

Luke McCowan’s superb Aberdeen stats put him in Celtic’s Scottish Cup starting XI

Luke McCowan had a superb game against Aberdeen as the Celtic fringe man put in a performance worthy of a Scottish Cup start.

Here are the Fotmob stats behind McCowan’s Pittodrie performance which will force him into Brendan Rodgers‘ Hampden plans:

It was a great performance by McCowan and he is likely to get the nod on Trophy Day against St Mirren but he will need to prepare himself for Scottish Cup heartache.

Why Luke McCowan won’t start for Celtic vs Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup

McCowan is clearly a talented footballer but he has a bit of work to do to become a regular Celtic starter.

Arne Engels will likely be back in the starting line-up alongside Celtic captain Callum McGregor when the final comes around.

And with doubts over Celtic hero Reo Hatate after his injury at Aberdeen, Rodgers is likely to give Paulo Bernardo the nod for the final with McCowan needing to settle for a place on the bench.

All McCowan can do is continue to put in these kinds of performances whenever he gets his chance and continue to show Rodgers that he still deserves to be a part of the Celtic manager’s plans moving forward.
