What Ange Postecoglou told his Celtic players in Hampden dressing room after treble win

Ange Postecoglou was obviously a happy man in the wake of Celtic’s treble triumph at Hampden today. The manager has joined the list of greats who have secured a domestic clean sweep, which includes Jock Stein and Martin O’Neill.

After the 3-1 victory over Inverness Caledonian Thistle, the manager was non-committal about his long-term future at the club. But that was to be expected. Postecoglou’s main focus right now is enjoying the success that’s been earned.

And that was his message to the players in the dressing room as they celebrated the Scottish Cup win, which was revealed in a post-match media conference.

Ange Postecoglou puts focus on enjoying the moment

Postecoglou said [The Celtic Way]: “Everyone has worked hard for this, it’s been a long season. Some of our boys have been to a World Cup and they’re still out there putting it in. It’s been a monumental effort.

Kyogo was barely fit today and he’s now got to go and play for his national team. But his thoughts were just about performing for this club. They all deserve to enjoy this, it’s not about what’s next for any of them. I said that to them in the dressing room.

“They can celebrate this one a little bit harder because tomorrow there’s a holiday for them. So I’ve told them to enjoy it and whatever is next will take care of itself. They all deserve to enjoy this it’s not about what’s next for any of them. Just enjoy this, that’s what I said to them in the dressing room. They can celebrate this one a little harder than the others – and they celebrated them hard as well by the way – knowing there is a holiday there for all of them.”

We’ll find out in the coming days, weeks and months what is in store for all of these players and all of the staff. Postecoglou isn’t going to be the only one linked with a move away from the club. It all requires patience from the support.

That speculation comes as a by-product of success and this team have done all they could this season on that front. No doubt there are many envious eyes weighing up if they can make a move for our talent.

But right now, it’s time to reflect on a sensation season that has reaffirmed Celtic’s status as the top dogs in Scotland and one of the most successful teams in the world.
