What Benjamin Nygren, Arne Engels and James Forrest said on the Celtic touchline before beating Motherwell

Celtic’s fightback against Motherwell was a great show of mental strength by the players.

Booed off at half-time, Celtic struggled to break down a Motherwell team who, in all fairness, were not shy in trying to attack instead of spending the whole 90-minutes camped in their own half.

Celtic’s penalty was quickly wiped out as Motherwell scored right before half-time and not long after the break, the Fir Park side went 2-1 up.

With 20 minutes left to play, Brendan Rodgers made his changes and it appears that a conversation had on the touchline by the three Celtic substitutes may well have inspired the late, late win.

Benjamin Nygren shares what James Forrest and Arne Engels said just before Celtic beat Motherwell

Benjamin Nygren scored Celtic’s equaliser not long after coming on as a substitute with teammates James Forrest and Belgian Arne Engels.

And here, he shares a conversation the Hoops trio had on the touchline before inspiring Celtic’s win over Motherwell.

Nygren told the Daily Record, “It was a very nice feeling. It was a difficult game but we really showed a lot of mentality and heart in the second half to chase the win and we got it.

“We really showed our character, and how we stick together as a team.

“We do that always but we showed a great team mentality out there.

“When myself and the others went on, we said we need to go for a goal every time because we were chasing the game at 2-1 down. I think we took over immediately after we came on and thankfully we got the goals.

“The goalkeeper made a good save but thankfully I managed to get the goal soon afterwards.”

Celtic’s impressive attacking stats vs Motherwell

Celtic were relentless in the second-half as they battled to the late win over Motherwell, and the stats from Fotmob show just how impressive the Bhoys were.

Celtic’s will to win paid off as the Bhoys showed true grit against Motherwell and hopefully, this result is a springboard to better performances from Brendan Rodgers’ side.
