Peter Martin schools Alex Rae’s clueless drivel on Celtic fans and the board

Why Celtic fans are feeling frustrated towards the Parkhead board has been clearly documented over the last few weeks.

Not just from Celtic blogs, but the Bhoys’ support’s protests have been highlighted in the national print media, online, Sky Sports and even on talkSPORT.

So it’s fair to say that the Celtic fans have made their voices pretty clear and given clear and lucid reasons over why they are unhappy at the current leadership shown by the Parkhead board.

The Celtic support even published a detailed seven-question Open Letter to address their concerns to the Hoops board over why they are unhappy with the direction the club is heading under their stewardship.

So when Alex Rae decided to put in his tuppence worth over the issue, it’s perfectly clear he has not been listening to a word the 420 Celtic CSCs, fan media outlets and fan groups have been saying over the last few weeks.

Alex Rae tells Celtic fans to ‘step back’ as he proves his ignorance over board protests

Alex Rae probably isn’t the best person to ask about anything Celtic considering his very strong leanings to the club over the other side of the city.

But, in his infinite wisdom, he decided to put in his opinion and tried to tell the Celtic supporters they should be grateful to the board for ‘what they’ve actually done for them’.

Rae said on PLZ Soccer [39m 3, “£77m in the bank, 13 titles over the last 14. You know, they’ve had a disastrous transfer window. Disaster.

“But if you look at over the last calendar years at 40 odd million pounds spent on the squad,? The summer could most certainly have been better.

“But 13 titles out of 14, trebles, you name it. And then more importantly, a business that’s actually making money.

“Yes. So I think you have to step back as well, and realise what they’ve actually have done for them over that period. They’ve really stabilised it and grown the business.”

Thanks Alex, great to see your finger is well and truly off the pulse regarding the point the Celtic fans are making about the Parkhead board.

So, up steps Peter Martin to correct the former Rangers coach.

Peter Martin puts Alex Rae straight on Celtic fan feeling toward the board

There was a meeting being held on Monday night between the Hoops board and the Celtic Fans Collective which will be spoken about later.

That meeting was to address the very points that Martin had to inform Rae about as he put the former Rangers coach straight.

Martin said, “It’s a very good point you make because we do this regularly on this show and you try and strike a chord of balance towards what the gripe is with the Celtic fans and what the actual delivery from the board is.

“And they’re certainly the envy of many a club across the UK because of the way they’ve gone about their business because of the strategy they adopt.

“But there are legitimate concerns, not just for this transfer window, there’s been a long period of time where I think Celtic fans have been stripped of ambition on the basis that they can’t compete.

“And they’ve been sold a narrative which basically allows the board, at times, to go through this situation of building up and stacking up cash and then a feeling, which the manager has highlighted not us, the manager has highlighted, ‘I’m not here to stand still, there’s a great result that we almost pulled off against Munich can I take it on. Will you back me?’

“And the answer was emphatically no.”

What’s that famous saying again? It’s best to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are stupid, than open it and prove them right.
