What we learned from Celtic training before Hibs Scottish Cup clash as two injury worries return

Celtic are prepared for their Scottish Cup tie vs Hibs this weekend.

It was a frustrating clash the last time the two clubs went head to head as Celtic lost 2-1 at Easter Road. There was controversy with a legitimate goal being wrongly ruled out but that’s gone now.

For Brendan Rodgers and his team it is all about Sunday and seeking redemption for the last match against the Hibees who are on a fine run of form under head coach David Gray.

It should be an entertaining spectacle at Celtic Park with the visitors Hibs taking 7000 fans to Glasgow after they were given an increased away support ticket allocation for the fixture.

And in the build-up to the cup quarter-final, the Celtic social media team posted their routine training footage from Lennoxtown to show what has been going on with the players.

67 Hail Hail pored over the footage and here’s what we found.

Callum McGregor ready to go

There had been a bit of a scare last weekend when Callum McGregor came off against St Mirren in Celtic’s 5-2 victory at the SMiSA Stadium.

The club captain’s calves seized up and had given him a bit of bother but he was taken off as a precaution as Rodgers did not want to take any risks with his key man.

The boss confirmed his skipper would be fine to face Hibs should he be picked to start and he was spotted in training so he really is good to go.

Auston Trusty shakes off knock

Another player who had to be substituted against the Buddies was the American centre-half.

Trusty suffered a head knock which left him bloodied and, like with McGregor, Rodgers did not want to take any chances and he was replaced.

It took a few stitches to the dome but the player is back on the Lennoxtown pitch and will hope to partner Cameron Carter-Vickers at Parkhead tomorrow. Liam Scales is out.

Player of the month in action

It has been the season of Daizen Maeda and the Japanese star has been rewarded for it.

Having played up front for Celtic throughout the month of February – and bagged six goals – he was named player of the month and it was well deserved.

The question will arise again this weekend as to whether or not Maeda will start through the middle with Adam Idah also being shown being put through his paces.

We’ll have to wait and find out.
