Welcome to Celtic, Camilo Duran!

Yes, it’s only pre-season, but Duran marked his first appearance in Celtic colours by scoring against Sporting in a pre-season friendly in Lisbon.

Trailing 1-0, Martin O’Neill threw Duran into the second-half action, and the new kid on the block levelled the scores in a fashion the Celtic Park faithful have seen before because this was straight out of the Daizen Maeda textbook.

Camilo Duran’s off-the-ball work in his first appearance for Celtic

This is the first time Celtic supporters are seeing Duran in action, so they are eager to see what he is all about.

Yes, you shouldn’t take too much out of this game, as Celtic suffered a 4-1 defeat to Sporting, but Duran’s off-the-ball work was rather encouraging.

That was proven with the goal he scored because it all came from him.

Just like Maeda on a normal day, the new summer signing honed in on the Sporting defender as he took the ball off his goalkeeper.

Just as the Sporting player was taking a touch, Duran was breathing down his neck, taking the ball off him, keeping his balance and putting the ball into the back of the net.

Sound familiar, Celtic fans?!

What’s even better is that Duran didn’t stop there because several moments later, he was winning the ball back again high up the pitch.

In fact, he did it on several occasions before Celtic’s defence fell to pieces and conceded three goals.

Either way, Maeda might be leaving this summer, but even he would have loved what Celtic’s new attacker has already brought to the table for the Scottish champions.
