Wilfried Nancy better have some thick skin because this is going to get ugly.
It has already been a woeful, abject campaign for Celtic, which has been full of disconnect between fans and the club, and it just got worse on Sunday at Hampden.
Celtic were beaten 3-1 by St Mirren in the League Cup final, as Nancy has now lost all three games in charge – Hearts in the Premiership, AS Roma in the Europa League, and now St Mirren in the League Cup.
Nancy has had some interesting things to say since becoming Celtic boss, and some fans haven’t liked what they have been previously hearing, well, he continued that theme after the defeat to St Mirren.

Is this the end for Wilfried Nancy?

Wilfried Nancy on Celtic players ‘questioning’ him after defeat to St Mirren
As many know, a lot of the talk has been around Nancy’s system, and his call to change formation after Martin O’Neill’s interim spell in charge.
Speaking to BBC Radio Scotland (14/12/25), the Frenchman admitted that the Celtic players are ‘questioning’ him, but he totally understands it.
After St Mirren’s third goal went in, you could see it in the Celtic players’ faces and their body language. They looked dead and buried.
Nancy stated that he wasn’t happy with how the team started the second half, and there are many things they need to work on.
The former MLS coach added that he told the players, ‘I am still working’, and ‘I know what we want to do’, as he highlighted certain aspects of Celtic’s game that he didn’t like.
“This is more about the fact that we didn’t find a way to win the game,” said Nancy. “Again, I saw good things, but it wasn’t enough to win the game.
“We are struggling a bit. We have conceded a few goals on set-pieces, and especially the first goal, so after that, we have to come back from behind. I think we saw a good reaction to come back from behind. We had many opportunities inside the box to do better.
“After that, the way we started the second half, we didn’t start the second half the way we started the first half. We started to play balls that are difficult to play.
“They were losing a few balls that I know they could do better. The way and the structure we had today was interesting. But I think sometimes, we lost a few balls because we didn’t keep it, or we play a long ball instead of playing a short ball.
“So, my frustration was about to help. Try to give them a formation to (stay) calm. To attack the ball a little bit better – I am going to help them.
“Of course, the results matter. I have to see beyond the results. I have to see what we need to get a better and a complete performance.
“It’s totally normal that they are questioning a bit of me. But I showed that I can do better. I showed the direction I want to go. This is part of the job. I know where we are now, and where we want to go. This is clear. I really believe we are going to be able to click and move forward.
“Yes, patience. I know this isn’t their (the players’) job to be patient. I tell them that ‘I am still working. I know what we want to do.'”
