Wilfried Nancy caused a stir with Celtic starting XI to face St Mirren in the Premier Sports Cup final at Hampden.
The Celtic boss was under pressure heading into the game after a sore defeat to Roma at Celtic Park in the Europa League was compounded by the top-of-the-table clash loss to Hearts last Sunday.
With many asking questions of Nancy’s system, the Frenchman’s Celtic starting XI got many fans excited as it looked like the Hoops boss was reverting to a back four for the Premier Sports Cup final against St Mirren.

Celtic fans were delighted as it looked like Nancy had reverted to a back four against St Mirren. And who could blame them?
Looking at Tierney, Scales, Trusty and Ralston at the back, Celtic fans were buzzing. But that simply was not the case.
When asked if he was sticking with his 3-4-3 formation, Nancy told BBC Radio Scotland, “Yes, but this is only the system after that, the animation will be different.
“So, yeah, I think that Tony [Ralston] has a lot of experience to play this kind of game and he’s been also really, really good. So he deserves it. “

And when pressed on how Reo Hatate and Sebastian Tounekti would add dynamism to his Celtic team, Nancy replied, “Yes, and also to be able also to connect with the front five and also the midfielder. So this is the idea, to have a different type of profile in the front.
“So that’s why I picked this team.”
