There has been a lot of talk about Celtic adding to the attack during the summer transfer window.

But you could argue that beefing up that defence and adding more quality to the backline is as important for Brendan Rodgers.

There have been a lot of reunions at Celtic of late, the most recent being Kieran Tierney re-joining his boyhood club, but could former defender Kristoffer Ajer follow suit?

The 27-year-old left Celtic and joined Brentford in 2021, after spending five trophy-laden spells in Glasgow, including working under Rodgers.

But now there has been a lot of talk around Ajerโ€™s future, and it has made the Celtic Park faithful sit up and take notice.

Celtic fans make their feelings clear on Kristoffer Ajer

Ajer has been told by his Norway boss, Stale Solbakken, to โ€˜find a new clubโ€™, after playing only three matches at centre-back for Thomas Frankโ€™s Brentford during the recently concluded season.

The 2026 World Cup is around the corner, and with Norway possessing star attackers Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard, they are going to be desperate to book that golden ticket and Ajer needs to be as ready as possible.

Celtic fans made it pretty clear on social media that they want Ajer to return, as they dream of a backline consisting of: Alistair Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Ajer and Tierney.

@GbhoyDownUnder has made it clear what Celtic need to do: โ€˜Get up the road to Paradise.โ€™

@MikeMarino67 is dreaming of the possible backline: โ€˜AJ CCV AJER KT ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€™

@TonyBhoy88 thinks Brendan Rodgers needs to be made aware: โ€˜Someone tag Brendan.โ€™

@bhoysviews suggested where Ajer could play if he rejoins: โ€˜@ACSOMPOD being calling it for a few weeks now. What if he is the DCM we have all been crying out for. ๐Ÿ˜‰โ€™

@davidd121180 wants the reunion: โ€˜@CelticFC get the bhoys back together.โ€™

@sarasimpson3006 wants Ajer to head up to Glasgow: โ€˜Get him up the road!!!โ€™

@derekFraserWyl3 continued the theme: โ€˜Up the road son ๐Ÿ€โ€™

Let the reunions continue, as @disgracelands9 added: โ€˜Bring him home ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ€โ€™

@ritchiejef noted how much it could cost to get Ajer: โ€˜Cheeky wee million bid for the big man @CelticFC.โ€™

@Markyjig thinks something has been brewing for a while: โ€˜Rumoured months ago he was returning to Celtic.โ€™

@Johnniebhoy1 explained why Ajer returning makes sense: โ€˜Iโ€™ve said in the past Iโ€™d like to see him return. A cheeky wee 3-year deal. Heโ€™d like to work with the gaffer again and test himself in the UCL.โ€™

What has Ajer done since leaving Celtic?

Ajer played for a pressure cooker of a club like Celtic, but then went to a team who were huge underdogs upon their promotion to the Premier League.

In 2021, Brentford were promoted under Frank to Englandโ€™s top tier for the first time since 1947, and Ajer became a key player in the London club establishing themselves at the top.

Ajer has racked up 94 matches for the Bees, but during the past three seasons, he has only played 25 matches at centre-back.
