It’s not long before the January transfer window slams shut, as Celtic have some final dealings to conclude.
Let’s be honest, this wasn’t the transfer window Celtic fans were expecting because it pulled up a few surprises, including Kyogo Furuhashi joining Rennes and Jota returning to the club.
It has resulted in the powers that be at Parkhead being busier than usual, as Celtic have until 11 pm on Monday to get any final deals over the line.
There are some that are starring you right in the face, such as bringing in another striker and cover at left-back because Kieran Tierney doesn’t join until the summer.
But those are incomings, as players could also head for the exit door and has Brendan Rodgers given everyone a clue following the Bhoys’ last meeting?
Celtic were beaten 4-2 by Aston Villa in the Champions League on Wednesday night, and given the depleted squad, Rodgers proceeded to bring on several youngsters in the second half.
But one seemingly forgotten senior name remained on the bench.
Maik Nawrocki told Celtic will be ‘delighted’ to sell him before transfer deadline day
You have to question what Maik Nawrocki is doing in training that has resulted in him, not even touching the grass for Celtic anymore.
When Liam Scales got injured and was forced off seven minutes from time, rather than bring on Nawrocki because he was the senior centre-back, Rodgers opted for youngster, Dane Murray.
Hugh Keevins says it signals that the £4.3 million signing from Legia Warsaw in 2023 will never play for the club again and Celtic will be ‘delighted’ to move him on before the 11 pm deadline, as he told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.
This comes after Keevins was asked if Rodgers was ‘sending a message’ to the Celtic board by bringing on youngster after youngster at Villa Park.

“My interpretation of Daniel Cummings coming on is that Celtic are desperate to hold onto him,” said Keevins. “The contract is up at the end of the season. Is he going to go down the Ben Doak route? The Rocco Vata road? The Daniel Kelly road?
“Young boys now don’t dream of playing for Celtic and Rangers. They are a means to an end. I thought Daniel Cummings, not only making his Champions League debut, but making his Celtic debut was with a view to getting him to sign a lengthy contract.
“In regards to Dane Murray. He has been at Queens Park. He last played for Celtic three and a half years ago. But Brendan Rodgers appears to rate him. I think we will see more of Dane Murray because you certainly won’t see any more of Maik Nawrocki. He was on the bench at Villa Park and Dane Murray, late of Queens Park, three and a half years after his last Celtic game, got onto the park before Maik Nawrocki. If Celtic can get Maik Nawrocki off the wage bill by 11 pm on Monday night, then they will be delighted.”
Writing is on the wall for Nawrocki at Celtic
Scales has pushed ahead of Nawrocki after his breakthrough campaign last season, whilst Celtic paid big money for Auston Trusty this summer and nobody is going to dethrone Cameron Carter-Vickers from the starting XI.
There have been plenty of occasions when Rodgers could have used the German-born defender, but he has continued to leave him on the bench.
Nawrocki played sporadically last season, but once again, not enough to get a real gauge of what he is all about.
