Paulo Bernardo ‘really happy’ with Celtic’s confirmed transfer after Jota

Celtic have been pretty busy during the January transfer window and it could become more lively during the final days.

Normally, you don’t expect so much action, especially with Celtic dominating on the domestic stage and going strong in the Champions League.

But circumstances out of Brendan Rodgers’ control have resulted in a flurry of deals, including Kyogo Furuhashi joining Rennes.

That has kick-started a pretty mad week, which also saw Jota return to Celtic and then Alex Valle has had his loan deal from Barcelona cut short, so he can join Cesc Fabregas at FC Como in Serie A.

And with Celtic to play knockout Champions League football, you can bet your bottom dollar that more incomings will take place because that added quality and depth is needed.

The one name who is probably on everybody’s lips is, Kieran Tierney.

Rodgers has confirmed Tierney’s return, it’s just a case of when will the Arsenal star don his boyhood colours again.

Either, before the January transfer slams shut on Monday, or in the summer on a free transfer, either way, that pre-contract agreement is in place and Paulo Bernardo is ‘really happy’.

The Portuguese midfielder is delighted that Celtic are bringing ‘added quality’ to the squad, especially with Jota also on the books again, as posted by Celtic TV.

“The manager mentioned that Kieran Tierney will likely be joining in the summer, maybe sooner,” shared a reporter. “Added to Jota as well, from the players, is there a sense that the club, and the squad, is really upping their level and moving onto the next level. Bringing in so many quality players. Do you feel that within the group, at the moment?”

Bernardo responded: “Yeah, I think we have a great group, and if we add this quality, it’s great for us. It’s always good to have better players in the squad.

“If we have a competitive group, it’s good for everyone, so I am really happy.”

Tierney’s game time for Arsenal this season

It has been well over a month since Tierney returned from the treatment room, yet he is playing very little and hardly starting any matches.

Youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly is playing in front of him, performing and probably further indicating that it’s best that Tierney re-joins Celtic right now.

Celtic are in the knockout stages of the Champions League, so any added quality would be a huge boost, as Tierney has played just over 100 minutes this term.
