Adam Idah has earned a call-up to Ireland’s national team.
The Celtic striker has blown hot and cold this season but his goals tally is still not to be sniffed at. The big man has netted in the Scottish Premiership as well as in the Champions League and shown he can cut it at the highest level.
That is why it was no surprise to see the 24-year-old called into Heimir Hallgrimsson’s squad for their coming fixture in the Nations League play-off against Bulgaria later this month.
Idah has 14 goals in 43 appearances this campaign so far from all competitions. Idah’s had a decent return albeit the big number nine could be doing more for the cause. Still, he has shown he can find the net and he will be hoping to do so on the international stage to add to his 29 caps and four goals for his country.

Adam Idah called into Ireland’s squad vs Bulgaria
While Idah is involved, Liam Scales has not been named in the squad for the coming tie having picked up an injury at Celtic Park that has also ruled him out of domestic football.
But the central defender is not the only one who has links to the Hoops who has been picked to join Idah in the set-up.
Former Parkhead winger Mikey Johnston has also been selected as a reward for his form with EFL Championship side West Brom where he has played 35 times in all competitions, scoring twice and providing five assists down south.
Former Celtic players join Idah in Ireland’s squad
Another player who has been called into Hallgrimsson’s squad is an ex-Celtic youngster who left the club back in 2024.
Watford’s Rocco Vata is in the Republic of Ireland’s squad for the Bulgaria clashes having made inroads at Vicarage Road this term since joining last year.
The 19-year-old has played 28 times, perhaps surprisingly considering his lack of impact in Glasgow, and he has scored four goals while also chipping in with three assists.
