Alan Brazil drops bombshell of Dermot Desmond possibly selling Celtic, Ally McCoist reacts

Celtic’s dominance on the domestic stage shows no sign of stopping.

Do your talking on the field of play and then the limelight shines away from those in the boardroom, including majority shareholder, Dermot Desmond.

That was proven during that ill-fated season under Neil Lennon, but other than that, you can’t argue much about what Celtic have been producing for over a decade now.

Desmond isn’t someone you hear much from, but you can’t argue that he has made and backed some outstanding calls over the years.

From going down the path of not splashing huge cash on ready-made stars, but instead, buying unproven players who can transform into gems.

Just look at Nicolas Kuhn’s rise and the recent sale of Matt O’Riley to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Then there was the call to bring Brendan Rodgers back during the summer of 2023, and three trophies into his second spell, it’s proving to be a masterstroke and one that could get even better if the Treble is delivered this season.

But could this be the final hurrah from Desmond at Celtic because Alan Brazil made some interesting comments on talkSPORT?!

Alan Brazil questions if Dermot Desmond is looking to sell Celtic

Celtic-daft Brazil was on the radio, alongside Ally McCoist, and he brought up a text he received from someone he didn’t name.

The former striker stated this person is ‘no mug’ and they questioned, ‘what have you heard about Celtic being sold?’.

Brazil shared that he hadn’t heard anything, but ‘that surprised me’, before McCoist questioned if Desmond would go down the road of selling.

“Do you know someone texted me a couple of days ago, don’t take this as gospel, he said ‘what have you heard about Celtic being sold?” shared Brazil. “I went ‘eh? Not heard anything’.

“Serious, so I don’t know if there is something going up in Glasgow. I really don’t know. He is no mug, by the way. I won’t say who it is (who texted me), but he is no mug. I thought, ‘I haven’t heard anything’. I made a couple of calls to people.”

McCoist responded: “Would Dermot sell?” To which Brazil stated: “I don’t know. You never know. Maybe he has had enough. Maybe he wants to invest in something else. I don’t know. But that surprised me, it really did. But, then again, I suppose, why not?”
