Alan Brazil talking about Rangers getting ‘battered’ in Europe has Arsenal legend making early Celtic title call

The title race already sees a four-point gap opening up between Celtic and Rangers.

Just two games into the new Scottish Premiership season, Celtic have beaten St Mirren and Aberdeen as Rangers dropped points in draws with Dundee and Motherwell.

With league duty on hold until the 23rd of August for Celtic, both Glasgow clubs will be focusing on the League Cup this weekend and qualification for the Champions League.

And it was that what inspired an early title prediction from Arsenal legend Ray Parlour after Alan Brazil said Rangers got battered in the second-leg defeat to Viktoria Plzen last week.

Ray Parlour says league title is over after Celtic open up gap to Rangers

The talkSPORT duo were doing a round-up of last night’s European results involving Hibs and Dundee United when Brazil read out what the national radio station said about Rangers at Viktoria Plzen.

Brazil said on talkSPORT, “I guess we should mention Rangers making the final play-off game of the Champions League, despite, oh, being battered by Viktoria Plzen.

“I didn’t see the game. But if you remember the first leg at Rangers, people were saying, ‘This is not over. This is not over.’

Parlour: “What was the score?”

Brazil: “I don’t know. I’ll tell you what I did do, I watched the Celtic Aberdeen game. Aberdeen played well for the first 25 minutes, then Celtic got the goal and it was all over.”

Parlour: “The league’s over now isn’t it, already?”

Brazil: “People are telling me that Paddy Power are already paying out. It’s ridiculous.”

Parlour: “When’s the next Old F-rm? It’s the end of August isn’t it? At Rangers? That’s the game, isn’t it? They’ve just got to beat each other.”

Well, Ray, that’s not strictly true seeing as Rangers have dropped points already against St Mirren and Dundee so really, Celtic have already done the hard work that the Ibrox club are still failing to get over the line.

Celtic and Rangers’ next league fixture before Glasgow Derby

Celtic and Rangers have one more game to play before they face each other in the first Glasgow Derby of the season.

Russell Martin has the trickiest tie of both clubs and could, potentially, be heading to Paisley seven points behind Celtic should Brendan Rodgers’ side see off Livingston.

What a couple of weeks ahead for the Celtic supporters.
