Daizen Maeda is probably Celtic’s most important player right now.
The Japanese winger-turned-striker-turned-winger again has been a phenomenon since he joined Celtic back in 2021.
His goals last season ensured Kyogo Furuhashi’s Celtic exit to Rennes didn’t impact the team too much and his relentless pressing and running is vital to Brendan Rodgers’ defence.
However, rumours online over the last couple of days appeared to suggest that Maeda could be back on Brentford’s radar this summer after apparent interest from the Premier League club surfaced in June.
And it appears that nothing could be further from the truth.

Brentford interest in Celtic hero Daizen Maeda ‘not true’
Maeda is the next Celtic star fans are worried about losing since Nicolas Kuhn left for Como this summer.
The thought of losing another attacking threat whilst Jota is out injured does not bear thinking about but Celtic fans can relax.
67 Hail Hail understands from Graeme Bailey that the Maeda to Brentford rumour is unlikely to happen this summer.
We asked TBR’s Strategic & Operational Head of Football about the Celtic rumour and Bailey told us, “So Brentford – up high – came back to me and said it isn’t true.”
A huge sigh of relief can now be expelled by the Celtic support as Maeda looks like he is going nowhere, for now.
