Celtic will take on St Mirren in the Premiership after the conclusion of the November international break.

It will be a rehearsal for Celtic’s League Cup final showdown against Stephen Robinson’s side at Hampden next month.

One man who is expected to feature for St Mirren is Alex Gogic, who started his professional career at Hamilton Academical, including two years at Hibernian.

Given Celtic and Rangers’ abject performances this season, Gogic was asked what he thinks of the duo right now compared to when he first moved to Scotland in 2017.

St Mirren defender Alex Gogic responds to the suggestion Celtic and Rangers have ‘got worse’

Nobody is going to deny that Hearts have been the outstanding side this season, but there is still a long way to go in the campaign.

But despite the noise around Celtic and Rangers, Gogic didn’t agree with the suggestion that both sides have become ‘worse’, as the Cyprus centre-back told Open Goal.

Si Ferry: “Do you feel, since you first came to Scotland to now, that Celtic and Rangers have got worse?”

Gogic: “Worse? No. Celtic and Rangers always have the best players or the best teams. Obviously, this year, maybe they aren’t at their best.

“But again, it’s Celtic and Rangers. You can’t just. They will always be at the top.”

Gogic on not fearing the likes of Celtic anymore

St Mirren have finished in the top six for several seasons now, and it’s a big reason why their manager, Robinson, was linked to the Celtic gig.

Gogic was part of the St Mirren side that was beaten by Celtic on Flag Day for the opening game of the season.

But the 31-year-old shared that he has a different feeling when facing the champions of Scotland now compared to when he first locked horns against them as a Hamilton player in 2017.

“I was a bit younger in my first games (against Celtic and Rangers), when I was in Hamilton,” added Gogic.

“But now I have the experience, I think. You know what to expect, but you don’t fear anyone, especially the last three years with St Mirren.”
