Ally McCoist ‘admits’ how he felt after watching Callum McGregor’s late Celtic winner vs St Mirren

Celtic’s last-gasp win against St Mirren seems to have put some fire into Callum McGregor’s belly at the weekend.

After all the Celtic AGM controversy, the Parkhead support needed to see their team put on a performance and deliver a big win against St Mirren in Paisley.

Unfortunately, neither of those things happened. Celtic’s narrow win over St Mirren was probably one of the worst performances of the season.

However, a win is a win and when Celtic captain Callum McGregor’s goal hit the back of the St Mirren net, pressure was immediately applied to Hearts who then bottled it at Aberdeen less than 24 hours later.

But it was Ally McCoist who appeared the most upset this weekend as the former Rangers man shares how he felt as he watched McGregor’s rocket ensure Celtic left the SmiSA Stadium with all three points.

Ally McCoist admits he was ‘gutted’ when Callum McGregor scored Celtic’s winner

It appears that there is one person more upset than Stephen Robinson with the Celtic win as Alan Brazil trolls McCoist after the former Rangers striker admitted he was ‘gutted’ about the late Hoops win.

McCoist said on talkSPORT, “By the way, what a hit wasn’t it. It was some strike I’ve got to say.

“And Aberdeen beating Hearts yesterday, yeah, so it’s cats back amongst the pigeons, mate.

“I must admit, I was kind of gutted, because if Callum doesn’t hit that goal, we were only three points behind you, but as it happens, we are still five.

“But no, we thought it would change, but there’s still a long, long way to go, mate.”

Brazil replied, “I didn’t look down Ally, I was looking I was looking up at Hearts, the Jambos. I wasn’t looking down!”

How Celtic can get to the top of the league before facing Hearts

Celtic face Hearts at Parkhead in about two weeks time as the Bhoys look to reclaim their place at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Celtic’s next two fixtures are against Hibs at Easter Road this coming Sunday and then Dundee on the 3rd of December.

If the Hoops win both by three clear goals and Hearts drop any points away to Motherwell or at home to Kilmarnock, Celtic go top on goal difference.

That will make Derek McInnes’ trip to Celtic Park a lot more interesting and will show if Hearts really do have the bottle to go toe-to-toe with the current Scottish champions.
