Celtic Fans Collective rubbish Hugh Keevins’ bizarre claim about pre-planned AGM disruption

The Celtic AGM will throw all sorts of claims and counterclaims as the fallout of the shambolic meeting continues this week.

Ross Desmond’s attack on the Celtic support was one of the most inflammatory statements ever made at a Celtic AGM that we can ever remember.

The preceding reaction and anger from the Celtic supporters and shareholders in that room gave Peter Lawwell the perfect excuse to end the meeting as he read from what looked like a pre-prepared script as he drew the AGM to a premature close.

However, Hugh Keevins has made a bizarre claim that the Celtic Fans Collective had pre-planned the AGM disruption that has now been rubbished by the fan action group.

Hugh Keevins’ odd claims about Celtic fans, the Collective and the shambolic AGM

As previously mentioned, there will be claims and counterclaims made about the Celtic AGM and Keevins was first up to share what he claims he was told the Collective had planned

Keevins wrote in the Daily Record, “But I am told that, at a meeting of the Celtic Fans Collective in October, it was suggested there should be an effort made to disrupt the AGM. To what end?

“That much is anybody’s guess, other than there exists an anti-establishment core dedicated to indulging in this kind of activism as a lifestyle choice.

“I would say is the silent majority of Celtic fans want nothing to do with what’s going on at present.

“But there is no sign of peace breaking out soon when people can see this kind of volatility as some sort of win.”

What the Celtic Fans Collective actually wanted to happen at the 2025 AGM

Where to even start with this one. Let’s go with Keevins’ claim about the silent majority. Over 400 CSCs, fan groups, media outlets and Ultra groups have signed up to the Celtic Fans Collective.

At the AGM, there was a mix of fans and shareholders of varying ages and statures in attendance and almost everyone who attended backed the red card display against the board.

Peter Lawwell on closing the AGM meeting

I am going to have you apologise to those supporters who have the best interests of the club at heart but I am going to have to draw the meeting to a close.

So to claim that there is a ‘silent majority’ at all is just nonsensical.

And to be clear, not one Celtic supporter sees the AGM being called to a halt early as ‘a win’. Unless Keevins is referring the Celtic supporters on the Parkhead board, that is.

As for Keevins’ claim about disrupting the AGM, 67 Hail Hail contacted the Celtic Fans Collective and they immediately rubbished this.

The Collective told us that the only thing they were seeking on that day was to move the order of business along and skip the pre-recorded video to allow fans more time to ask questions and hold the board accountable.

That is it. There was no other forms of ‘activism’ or demonstrations planned. So whoever ‘told’ Keevins this is clearly not in the loop, or they have just made this up.

I suppose all the radio pundit had to do to find out what the Collective’s plans for the AGM were is to reach out and ask the question to verify this claim before publishing his weekly column. Would that have been too hard?
