After days of silence, it appears that Wilfried Nancy will become Celtic’s new manager in just over a week’s time.

Nancy has been linked to the Celtic job for weeks now but it seems that the Frenchman is now on the verge of becoming the new Parkhead boss.

Doubts were raised over whether Celtic would appoint Nancy after the Columbus Crew media man Chris Doran said that the Glasgow giants had not approached Columbus Crew to ask for permission to speak to their manager.

However, a report has emerged late last night saying Nancy will become the next Celtic manager and shares when the Hoops support will see him in the dugout for the first time.

Wilfried Nancy will take charge of Celtic on the 1st of December

A report from Peter Martin at PLZ Soccer says that Nancy will become the new Celtic boss on the 1st of December and will be in charge for the game against Dundee on the 3rd.

Martin said, “I understand the 48-year-old French manager, currently in charge of MLS side Columbus Crew, is set to take over the Scottish Premiership champions on December 1st, if not before, depending on the completion of contracts for four members of his backroom staff who are expected to join him in Glasgow over the next seven days.”

I was told that there was a report that said we gave permission to Celtic but in order to get permission, you have to ask. We haven’t had anything from that particular club.

So it seems that Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney will remain in interim charge for the Europa League tie against Feyenoord and the tricky Easter Road trip to face Hibs.

Martin also said that Nancy will bring four backroom staff to Celtic, but stopped short of naming who they will be.

Can Wilfried Nancy unite a fractured Celtic?

Nancy is arriving at Celtic in one of the most turbulent periods of the club’s most recent history.

The Frenchman will be expected to hit the ground running but could wins against Dundee and Hearts in the Scottish Premiership plus a Premier Sports Cup final win against St Mirren help heal the fracture between the fans and the board?

That is highly unlikely, but if Nancy can pull these results off, it will at least silence the people who are already doubting this appointment.
