The buildup to the big Champions League game continues as Ally McCoist shares what he thinks about Celtic’s chances of pulling off a result against Borussia Dortmund.

The Bundesliga giants are struggling for form after Bochum exposed some of their weaknesses despite Nuri Sahin’s side recording a 4-2 win against them.

Dortmund have also succumbed to a horror 5-1 defeat to VfB Stuttgart as last season’s Champions League runners-up’s chaotic start to their new season offers Celtic hope of pulling off a result in the Westenfallonstadion tonight.

In stark contrast to the German side, Celtic have been imperious as they have swatted domestic and European sides to maintain their unbeaten start to their season with some fantastic football and really special goals.

Which is why Ally McCoist has delivered this verdict on whether he thinks Celtic will get a result in Germany tonight.

McCoist reckons Celtic ‘have a chance’ vs Dortmund

McCoist was speaking about Celtic’s start to the season when he shared that he thinks Brendan Rodgers’ side has a chance to get a result against the Bundesliga giants tonight.

McCoist told talkSPORT, “I think they have a chance. I really do. They have started the season really, really well, playing exceptionally well all over the pitch.

“Carter-Vickers is a miss. I don’t think he’s travelled. I think Celtic are a far better team with Carter-Vickers in it. This will be the biggest test by a mile this season, by an absolute mile.

“I must admit, I genuinely think Celtic have got a chance of getting something from them.”

Confidence is high at Celtic

Celtic should be confident heading into this game as they looked more equipped to face Europe’s elite clubs than at any time I can remember since the Martin O’Neill days.

Brendan Rodgers has recruited well this summer bringing in the likes of Arne Engels, Paulo Bernardo, Kasper Schmeichel, Adam Idah and Auston Trusty.

There is a pace and power about this team that is reminiscent of the O’Neill days and it should set Celtic up well for these Champions League nights.

Dortmund are undoubtedly the toughest opponent Celtic will face but with the quality Rodgers has at his disposal, Celtic fans will have a feeling that tonight could well deliver a special European performance.
