It’s final day for Celtic.

The season is going pretty well for Brendan Rodgers, unbeaten domestically and heading for the knockout stages in the Champions League.

But Celtic’s League Cup final showdown with Rangers at Hampden will be the cherry on the top of the cake, in terms of adding some real substance and end product to such a strong start.

Celtic have already beaten Rangers this season in the Premiership and repeating the Scottish Cup final drama from last season will make fans really believe that another possible Treble is on the cards.

From a financial perspective, Scottish football can’t compete with most leagues in Europe and, as a result, it doesn’t generate anywhere near the limelight and platform as others.

But what does bring the attention of the footballing world is the deep heated and never-ending rivalry between Celtic and Rangers.

Ahead of the Hampden showpiece, American pundits from CBS Sports were sharing an outside view of how they see things.

Celtic’s defence hailed ahead of League Cup final against Rangers

There has been pressure on Philippe Clement’s job all season long and he is yet to beat Celtic during his time as Rangers boss – five matches and four defeats.

That was touched upon by CBS pundit Alexis Guerreros and how there is ‘a bit of a gap right now’ between the two clubs, including the ‘crazy’ goal difference.

But former USMNT international Charlie Davies seemed to have the Graeme Souness syndrome when talking about the gap in quality.

“I don’t think that the gap is that big, in terms of individual quality between Celtic and Rangers right now,” claimed Charlie Davies. “I do think the gap is too large between the two teams, in terms of points. It should never be this way.”

“Celtic, defensively was really good in the Scottish Premiership,” added Nico Cantor. “I mean, they still are really good. They went through, what the first eight matchdays without conceding. Aberdeen was neck and neck with them, then they played each other and they have opened up that gap with Aberdeen as well. Celtic have been phenomenal and Rangers have been off the mark”

Alexis Guerreros also stated: “Goal differential is pretty crazy. Celtic is at +40 right now. Rangers is at + 18. Brendan Rodgers doing a good job over at Celtic. If you look at the Glasgow derby, Rangers haven’t won in the last six. The last time they won was May 13, 2023, so there is a bit of a gap right now. I know Rangers has historically been competing, but it seems as though Celtic are taking a step forward that Rangers hasn’t.”
