The disappointment of Kilmarnock is only going to further engulf the flames within the Celtic fanbase for more quality to be added in the January transfer window.

Brendan Rodgers has expressed his desire for the team to be improved and it’s pretty clear that his pleas need to be met.

A number of players and areas of the squad have been talked about ahead of the winter transfer window opening, including Danish forward, Mathias Kvistgaarden.

The Brondby striker is a target for Celtic, one of the issues currently is that a pretty stiff asking price of ‘£8.5 million’ has been put on his head.

Andy Walker was pretty blunt in his response to that transfer price by adding that he doesn’t think Celtic will go ‘anywhere near’ paying that type of money, as he told Go Radio

Kyogo Furuhashi and Hyeongyu Oh are Brendan Rodgers’ front two – the latter started the last two games, but endured an afternoon to forget against Killie.

“On a serious note, Celtic spending £8.5 million?!” questioned a surprised Walker. “That is something you haven’t seen for some time.

“I don’t think they will be going anywhere near that figure for anyone.”

Celtic’s need to add quality in January

You would expect Rodgers will be pushing the powers that be to add quality to the squad next month, especially in the forward areas.

If Kyogo and Oh leave for the Asian Cup games, then it leaves Celtic in a spot of bother and pretty light in the forward departments.

Even with Kyogo and Oh still in the building, you would think that more forward players are needed, it’s just a case of what type.

Someone with versatility and who can operate across the front three would be a step in the right direction.
