Brendan Rodgers has plenty on his plate at Celtic.
Celtic fans have been protesting, and after mixed reactions to the a meeting between the board and the Fan Collective, these could well continue.
The protests were sparked by a failure to qualify for the Champions League amid a desperately poor transfer window which saw the Hoops sell Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah without forthcoming replacements.
Daizen Maeda has said that he wants to leave, Kieran Tierney is struggling for fitness on his return and four of Celtic’s summer signings aren’t even registered for Europe.
Despite all of this, Rodgers says that he is open to staying – but one former Celtic forward has his doubts over this.
Andy Walker on Brendan Rodgers and Celtic uncertainty
Rodgers has also been accused of ‘engineering his exit’ by an anonymous senior source at the club, something which he described as a ‘cowardly action.’

For Andy Walker, speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, there are questions over whether he will even last the season, despite his vows to do exactly that.
Walker said: “I wonder who will replace Brendan Rodgers, and I wonder if he will last the season. There’s so much uncertainty
“You heard Brendan Rodgers talking about a senior executive almost wishing him to lose. And there’s ‘nothing to see here’? That’s bizarre.
“There’s someone in a senior position who was briefing against the manager, and Brendan Rodgers called it out and wanted them identified, wanted them sacked.
“That person’s still there, I’m assuming he’s still got the same feelings. I don’t know who else is with them. But of course, the focus should be on the pitch, what you’re doing, what games are you playing and how are you winning.
“And I think Celtic being two points behind Hearts at the moment, I think they will get better but it was a really poor summer window.”
Brendan Rodgers’ three-year promise at Celtic
Famously upon his return to Celtic Park in 2023, Rodgers made the promise that he ‘guaranteed’ he would be here for three years, unless he got ’emptied’.
However, his decision to jump ship to Leicester in 2019 has damaged the support’s trust for him – so not everyone is buying it.
Ultimately, with his contract expiring next summer, it feels like he will stay – many of the Hoops fans are on his side, with much of the frustrations being aimed at the club’s board instead.
Most Celtic supporters are more worried about who the club will choose to replace Rodgers, rather than their chances of extending his stay.
