Andy Walker wowed by transformation of Celtic star under Brendan Rodgers

Celtic have made a flying start to the new season under Brendan Rodgers and fans are starting to see the team’s true worth.

When Rodgers replaced Ange Postecoglou last summer, the Celtic players needed time to settle and get used to his ways again.

That’s why there were mixed performances and results, including individual players needing time to settle in and prove their worth – yet the trophies were still delivered.

Everyone knows how Rodgers can work his magic with players and how he can take their game to higher levels.

That now seems to be happening with Celtic’s January recruit Nicolas Kuhn, who made a quiet start to life at Parkhead.

Illness and a lack of pre-season with his new club played a part, but now Kuhn is singing and dancing like never before.

Kuhn came off the bench and helped Celtic beat Falkirk in the League Cup by being involved in four-goal contributions with his team being 2-1 down after an hour.

Andy Walker is loving the transformation Kuhn has made and how he is ‘much improved’ under Rodgers, as he told Go Radio

The former Bhoys star backed the idea of a host of changes being made for that game and how it was needed.

Nicolas Kuhn much improved at Celtic

“You need to give these players (bench players) some game time, this was the ideal opportunity,” said Walker.

“They conceded a couple of goals, but they got the game time. I think the biggest change was bringing Nicolas Kuhn on. He set up a couple of goals and then scored a couple of goals. I think he is beginning to show his quality. He is beginning to show that he is a much-improved player. That’s a huge benefit to Celtic.

“They are so reliant on their wide players to contribute, whether it’s setting up goals or scoring, or doing both. That’s what you want to see from players like Kuhn.”

Celtic’s recruitment working wonders again

Previously, there has been some annoyance at the powers that be at Celtic not splashing the cash in the transfer market as fans would have liked.

But players like Kuhn, with Matt O’Riley being the prime example, as to how you don’t need to spend so big to find these superstars.

Celtic pushed the boat out a little bit more this summer, especially with the arrival of club-record transfer Arne Engels, who has made a very strong start.

And you wonder what else the club can do if they reach the knockout stages of the Champions League.
