Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder has given a fascinating insight into Celtic boss, Brendan Rodgers, whilst praising Ange Postecoglou.
The Australian left Celtic for the English Premier League last summer and one of his first signings was Maddison for a fee of £40m from Leicester City.
The England international made 30 appearances in his maiden season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and has featured just three times so far this season.
However, speaking about Postecoglou’s man management style, Maddison gave an insight into how Brendan Rodgers treated his players whilst he was the manager at The Foxes during his time at Leicester.
Maddison: Rodgers makes players ‘feel good’
Maddison spent five years at Leicester and after playing for Rodgers for a full season in 2019, the now-Celtic boss extended his contract for a further four years.
And here, Maddison shares the differences between the two managers after being asked how Postecoglou convinced him to sign for the London club.
Maddison told Golf Life, “He’s a good man [Postecolgou]. He’s a unique human being. You can tell he’s a brilliant man and when I spoke to him before I signed the first thing he said to me was congratulating me on the birth of my twins when I first met him.
“So I knew straight away he’s a good man but he’s also someone who will not let the manager/player relationship get too tight.
“For example like Brendan Rogers who I had for five years at Leicester, he was very arm around you and made you feel so good.
“Like you could go in his office for a coffee and talk. They’re both great men but just different. Ange keeps that manager/player relationship socially to a minimum, he wouldn’t mind me saying that I don’t think.
“Even though he doesn’t talk to you individually as much as someone like Brendan Rodgers would I still feel that he believes in me by the way he is and the way he conducts himself and talks in the meetings and he believes in me without me needing to hear it.”
Rodgers’ man management paying off for Celtic
It’s quite clear that Postecoglou and Rodgers both have different styles when it comes to dealing with players but it seems that the current Celtic manager’s is paying off for the club.

The improvement on Matt O’Riley last season convinced Brighton to pay £30m for the former Celtic midfielder this summer.
The Celtic fans have also seen improvements in Alistair Johnston and Greg Taylor and even Reo Hatate is enjoying a rich vein of form under the Irishman.
Now this does not underplay Postecoglou’s achievements at Celtic because it’s quite clear he was loved by the squad during his time at Parkhead.
But it does seem that there are players at Celtic who need Rodgers’ comforting and personal approach and it seems to be paying off this season as the Hoops enjoy a blistering start to the season.
