As the Celtic supporters wake up this morning, they will be coming to the realisation that they do so as the Scottish champions and to a special message from Ange Postecoglou.
In a season that has laid so many demands on this squad, what this Celtic team have achieved, and can achieve, come the end of the season is nothing short of remarkable.
And it is all down to one man. Ange Postecoglou. The Celtic manager will play down his role and credit the players, but we all know that without Ange, this club would not be in the place it is right now.
But the manager has recognised one important component of this title win and he sent a message to pay tribute to that. The Celtic supporters.
Ange said [Celtic FC], “One of the rewards for winning the Premiership is qualification to the group stages of the UEFA Champions League. Everyone in football knows how special European nights at Celtic Park are, and we will welcome some of Europe’s top teams and best players to our stadium knowing that, with 60,000 supporters behind us, we can compete with the very best.
“Our strength is our unity with you, our supporters. We know that the atmosphere you create at Celtic Park is second to none and please never underestimate how important this is. When we’re all in together, we know we can achieve great things.
“Enjoy celebrating this title success because it’s something we’ve all worked hard for and these are the moments we should all savour.
“Life for many people is often challenging and in current times even more so. I’ve always said though that the true joy of occasions like today, even for a short time, can lift people in such a positive way. That really is something special for me.
“I am immensely proud of this team and we thank you for all you have given us this year. Enjoy today with your families and your loved ones and celebrate all that is great about Celtic. You deserve it!”
Celtic and the supporters have done each other proud this season
The Celtic fans have been truly immense this season in their support of Ange and the Bhoys. The 60,000 home supporters turn up every second week to back their team. And the away support continually sells out their allocation to follow the side around the country and outsing the opposition fans.
And that Celtic team. To coin a phrase, they just do not stop. Ever. The self-belief they have in their ability to get results is just astonishing. And the football they play, can at times, be breathtaking. It is little wonder the fans turn up in their thousands to cheer them on.
Ange can be as humble as he likes but we all know that the special bond this team has with the fans is down to him and how he heads up our club. We are genuinely lucky to have him at the helm and I can’t wait to see him lead us into the Champions League next season.
