Whatever transfer business Celtic conduct this summer, nothing will top the return of Kieran Tierney.
After Tierney’s Arsenal contract expired on June 30, he was officially a Celtic player again, and now it’s about seeing him in the famous green and white colours.
The first batch of Celtic players returned to pre-season last week, and then they were followed by those who were on international duty.
Tierney was part of two Scotland fixtures in early June, so he was given extra time off, and then footage emerged of the popular left-back at Lennoxtown.

Kieran Tierney in Celtic training after his return from Arsenal
One thing Tierney is renowned for is not just how he plays and trains, but what he wears, regardless of who he is representing.
But when Celtic TV showed footage of their star defender back in Glasgow, he was wearing long sleeves in training, and it was noticed by the fans.
Some of the Celtic Park faithful claimed on social media that Arsenal have changed him because he didn’t do that before he moved to London in 2019.
@1881Stephen isn’t happy with Arsenal: ‘KT wearing sleeves? Arsenal have ruined him!’
@Kieran_Sellick is another Celtic fan unhappy with Arsenal: ‘KT in long sleeves? Arsenal, you must answer for your crimes.’
@anmcd90 on Tierney in Celtic gear: ‘Kieran Tierney in Celtic training gear at Lennoxtown is a beautiful sight.’
Only one issue from @adthelad57: ‘He’s here, but long sleeves…’
@stromunde is just glad to see Tierney back: ‘Seeing KT back in kit is awesome HH.’
@JohnCoyle22 just wants to see more of KT: ‘More KT content.’
@michellermreid is another delighted fan with Tierney back in the building: ‘@CelticNewsVideo KT & MAEDA back BABY! 😂🍀’
@LK67__ continued that theme: ‘Unreal seeing KT back.’
Why does Tierney wear short sleeves?
No matter the weather, one thing used to be a constant with Tierney, and that’s wearing short sleeves, even if it’s -10 outside.
But what is the reason behind this? The simple answer is a Celtic legend, and a player with whom Tierney shared a dressing room and a pitch with – one Scott Brown.
Former Celtic manager Gordon Strachan once told Football’s Greatest that Brown is behind it all.
“Scott Brown does everything by example,” said Strachan. “I even watched Kieran Tierney training with a t-shirt in the winter and things like that.
“It has come from Scott Brown. That was him saying ‘nothing bothers me’.”
