Preparations are now underway for the 2025/26 season.

Celtic stars returned to pre-season training at Lennoxtown on Friday morning with less than a week until their first friendly against Queen’s Park.

The Hoops released footage of the day across their social platforms titled ‘Lennoxtown Unfiltered’, which showed exactly what the players were up to upon their return.

Below, 67 Hail Hail pick out four things we noticed from the short video.

Luke McCowan first to arrive

Luke McCowan was signed last summer from Dundee and enjoyed a good debut season as a Celtic midfielder, even if he wasn’t a regular starter.

He reported back to pre-season training nice and early on Friday morning as he greeted the Celtic media team with a smile and a quip.

McCowan will be eager to prove to Brendan Rodgers he is worthy of many more starting opportunities across 2025/26.

Callum McGregor & Ross Doohan reunited

Celtic’s second summer signing Ross Doohan has returned to Lennoxtown having first left the club in 2022 for Tranmere Rovers.

Doohan came through the Celtic Academy and would have been a few age groups below captain Callum McGregor.

McGregor and Doohan were captured deep in conversation inside the gym as they caught up with each other after a few years apart.

Intense gym work underway

The first day back at pre-season is always the toughest, and that was evident when a number of the Celtic stars underwent some tough resistance training.

McGregor was seen working his leg muscles, while Auston Trusty spent time perfecting his upper body with the machinery available at the gym.

The hard work begins now with just a week to go until the first pre-season friendly against Queen’s Park.

Gustaf Lagerbielke & Stephen Welsh present

Central defenders Gustaf Lagerbielke and Stephen Welsh featured in a couple of shots throughout the Lennoxtown footage.

But it’s almost certain their permanent futures lie away from Celtic after they were sent out on loan last season.

Lagerbielke is the subject of a £1.7m bid from SC Braga after a loan stint with FC Twente – the Dutch club will not be re-signing him.

For Welsh, there’s little speculation in terms of where he ends up next, but that is surely to come.
