As part of their preparations to come to Glasgow and take part in the James Forrest testimonial, Athletic Club seem to have gone on a Celtic journey in a bid to educate their fans on our great club.
67 Hail Hail told on Sunday how the Spanish club paid an incredible tribute to the club and the Celtic winger. In the tribute, they referenced Forrest’s glittering Celtic career, the history and tradition of the club and mentioned the late, great Celtic legend, Billy McNeill.
It really was a classy gesture. And now, they have continued that journey. The La Liga side released a video on their YouTube channel where they took the time to go and visit a local Celtic supporters club in Bilbao.
In the video, which can be watched here, the Celtic fans that run the supporters club speak about the special bond between Celtic and Athletic.
From the first fixture between the two clubs in a 2011 friendly to the Spanish club’s tribute to Billy McNeill when they awarded the legendary captain their One Man Club Award in 2019, the video really is an outstanding insight into the bond that ties the two clubs together.
The supporters club is not only just open to Celtic fans. The club welcomes Athletic supporters on match day as well and is heavily involved in the local community.
It is an excellent promotional video and shows the incredible reach and appeal of Celtic on a global scale.
For Athletic Club, they really have done an incredible job promoting Celtic over the last week and they will undoubtedly put on a good show for the supporters in tonight’s friendly at Paradise.
