Auston Trusty has claimed that Celtic have improved as the season has gone on as they prepare for another trip to Barclays Hampden.

Celtic face St Mirren in the Scottish Cup semi-final, where they will meet the winner of Dunfermline vs Falkirk.

In a one-off game like this, performances don’t matter and all focus should just be on getting to the final; but Trusty thinks there are signs that the side have improved over the course of the season.

Auston Trusty believes Celtic are improving

Martin O’Neill has won more points than any other Celtic manager this season, but performances over the last few weeks have left supporters somewhat concerned.

St Mirren beat Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup final when the two last met, and Trusty thinks the Bhoys are much better.

He told Celtic TV: “Obviously that was an unfortunate result, but it’s a new game, new competition, and we are a better team at this point in time.

“So hopefully we can continue on the path we’re on and get the win.”

Have Celtic got better as the season has gone on?

While performance wise, and appreciation for the man in the dugout has certainly improved, the actual results suggest otherwise.

Heading into 2026, the Bhoys were second in the table but now find themselves third and behind Hearts and Rangers.

Sure, O’Neill has steadied the ship, and results on the pitch have gradually improved, but are Celtic really better?
